Review by Iris Seifert First, thank you, mr. Dylan. And if anyone has ever any more doubts about mr. Dylan's vocal capacity, tonight's show closing Ain't talking was the clearest and softest sung version imaginable - superb. One gets the message: sugar baby, go on down the line... you've done without me for all these years, might as well keep going on...you want to make it better, but you end up making it a thousand times worse... Great job of the band, especially on Beyond the Horizon, John Brown, Ain't talking, Nettie Moore, High Water, and on and on, and if i could, i would hear you every night. (Bob Links) |

Review by Jim Scrivener For me the show's highlights were the opener To Be Alone With You which was well sung - and sounded surprisingly fresh and bright, Make You Feel My Love which was interesting, not least because rarely heard, if a little overwrought, and of course Hattie Carroll which had me in tears; the new arrangement really works well - especially in the chorus, which seems to gather new power from it. I was glad to hear Every Grain Of Sand again though I think it has lost a lot of the subtlety and tenderness of the recorded tracks, which is a shame. Summer Days sounded different tonight - less jumping jive in its guitar; an interesting variation. Anyway, it was all pretty good; all well sung, with little flubbing of lines and a real variety of moods. Bob's voice was slightly higher up in the mix tonight, which helped a lot. Biggest disappointment? Bob didn't do any songs away from his piano all evening. (Bob Links) |

Review by Carsten Wohlfeld Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again Thanks to Tim and Regine who were among the first down at the front we finally got the stage rush during this song and the show impoved immediately. Bob finally started grinning and moving around more and seemed to reall enjoy the presence of the people right at the rail. After the song Larry reached for his semi-acoustic guitar and I’m sure they had „Not Dark Yet" on the cuesheet (which I didn’t get to see). Then he went over to Tommy who handed him his red Gibson, the one he usually uses on the older songs. But that still wasn’t the right one and he finally had his Fender Tele in his hands, the one he usually only plays during „Feel My Love". So it was already clear that they would do a new(ish) song - or would do „Feel My Love" twice :-) And it actually was (Bob Links) |
