Review by Scott Lyson Right when the band started playing the eye backdrop unraveled itself to an extra boost of applause. There's no doubt that Thunder on the Mountain deserves an encore slot, it's a magnificent song and fit very nicely as it lead into the greatest rock song of all time. Like a Rolling Stone. That's all you need to say. Greatest rock song of all time. Before my favorite live song, All Along the Watchtower, Dylan introduced his "best band of all time". His band includes George Recile on drums and Donny Herron on pedal steel and violin and mandalin. Before singing Watchtower he said "One of us was born in St. Joseph's Hospital. See if you can guess who." The answer is St. Paul native bass player Tony Garnier. (Bob Links) |

Review by Cameron Johnson Later during the band introductions, Bob introduced Stu Kimball, then said "I want to send out a hello to my friend Tony Glover out there tonight. And I know we've had some problems with the instruments tonight so I hope you haven't been too inconvenienced." Then they played LARS and did The Formation II .... Shooting Star was moving for me and many in attendance. When he sang "Listen to the engine, listen to the bell as the last fire truck from hell goes rolling by" I was struck by the allusion to the backdrop to the stadium: a firefighter's practice facility on one side and a busy railroad on the other side. There were 5 or 6 trains that went by during the show, all going west, during Love -0, UTRS, SIOM and Summer Days, I think. (Bob Links) |

Review by Matt Steichen Bob also gave one of the most heartfeld renditions of 'girl of the north country' I've ever seen. He was really feeling the words. It was the closest bob's ever gotten me to tears in a concert (also had 3 harp solos). His versions of Love Sick and Floater were excellent. I saw the live debut of floater in Sioux City in 2001, and with Freddy's violin showcased, this version is 10 times stronger. Also, after the band made it through smile-filled version of floater, bob said something to the effect of "That was one of our NEW songs", lauging at the bandmembers as if they should have known it a bit better. Then after looking what the next song was (honest with me), he laughed into the mic "this one is too" (or something along those lines)...everyone on the stage was all smiles. (Bob Links) |

Review by Amy Egan The highlight of the evening was the next song, "Tamborine Man." Recently, this has been a song that Bob truly makes love to, when he performs it. As I twirl and danced 20 feet from Bob, he looked in my direction several times. It was mesmerizing to feel the magical connection as my heart sailed like a dove. Bob sang each line with every bit of his heart and soul. Imploring the tamborine man to "please play a song for him." "High Water" has become another standout song on this tour. The hypnotic guitar work seems to pull the audience right into the songs' focus and get them into the soul of the experince of the message. (Bob Links) |
