Review by Howard einer “M y Back Pages was a great surprise – I can’t recall the last time I had seen it. An always thrilling yet routine “Highway 61” followed. Dylan was in fine form all night, but this night lacked the X factor of the opening night. “Ain’t Talkin” spearheaded a dynamic show stopping conclusion to the night. After soaking this masterpiece in I was content as royalty. The “Summer Days” Like a Rolling Stone” conclusion was more powerful than the night before. Everybody got out their seats and really got off on LARS, Freeman knows how to tear that one up. Ditto “Thunder On the Mountain,” which has become tour de force. The first concert was legendary and mystical; this concert was well executed and professional. My experience in Mexico City is something I’ll never forget; these performances intensified the experience, and many ways, put things in perspective. (Bob Links) |

Review by Alberto Ortega Gurza Bob then decided to open the windows and let air refresh the place with The Levee’s Gonna Break and Spirit On The Water where. For the first time in the night, he showed true pleasure from doing what he was doing up there. The sight of he, reminded me of the time when he said “The stage is the only place where I´m happy”. Tony Garnier who a few songs back had put the up-straight bass back in it’s case, switching it for and electric model, was visibly overwhelmed with the music he was playing along with what Bob calls “the best band he has ever had –man for man- and knowing he has been Bob side man longer than any other musician, ever. Then came Things Have Changed, a stunning interpretation, enhanced by Donnie’s violin. The words “I used to care but things have changed” might have confused some people from the audience who still believed the times they were a-changing. Just then, the loud enthusiastic and ever cheering audience sat and quieted down to the first notes of the peaceful and highly sentimental When The Deal Goes Down. Might have been just my imagination, but when the words “We all wear the same thorny crown” were softly said, Bob looked at his audience in the most tender manner, like meaning to say “No one is better than anyone else. We are all in the same daily struggle, and here we are together, trying to forget about today, until tomorrow. (Bob Links) |
