Bob Links

Review by Tony de Castro
Bob- I should start out by saying that this was only my third show, so keep that in my when start heaping the praise. But I do think that Bob has figure some way to turn back the clock a bit, his vocal were the strongest I've seen them. (I saw shows in Spring '02, Spring '04). He's also much more animated/expressive behind the keyboards than I remember in '04, and really spits the words into the mic. The harmonica solos are long, bluesy, incredible. He walks out center stage and really belts them out, the crowd goes wild, and Bob actually seems to notice. He really get into them. I swear he almost was down to his knees on "The Times" solo.

Review by Kelly Revels

I was also at the show and for the most part agree with decastro. I was stading front row, right in front of Bob's keyboards. It was apparant from the opening verse of Tombstone Blues that Bob was on - and he KNEW IT. The last time I have seen him like this was Augusta in 2002. The new band lineup seems to be reinvigorating Bob to a degree. I think they blend excellently together. The guy from Br549 is a very talented multi-instumentalist, and played some great banjo, fiddle and steel guitar. I had never heard fiddle on It's Alright Ma until last night, lol, and it worked unbelievably well. And the banjo on John Brown was wonderful. And This Wheels on Fire was explosive! his vocals were dead on. The only thing that was missing were those harmonies from the Charlie and Larry days that I still miss

Review by Donovan Miller

This is my first "Bob" review, so here goes. I'm going to try and see as many shows on this tour as possible. This was my first show ever, and let's just say that I wasn't let down. There was an incredible feeling of excitement when The Master took the stage. How about that introduction! I recognized the first song from Ralph Stanley, and Bob surely made it his own. The Master was in full command for the entire acoustic segment, Particularly "It's Alright Ma." "Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum," Bob's commentary on last year's election scandle, rocked the house, and The Master clearly enjoyed rocking with the band. Charlie's playing with Larry was really tight. "highwater" really stood out. "Tangled" was maybe the only point of the show that I thought strayed a little bit. I think Bob has been playing this one too long or something. I've heard it many times on live tapes and seen it on set lists for so long, that I think Bob should leave it for a while. "Cold Irons Bound" was great, but the real highlight had to be "Blowin'" Just absolutely magnificent. I'm looking forward to the rest of this tour. I miss Kemper, but the new guy seems to have really energized Bob and the band.
