I have followed the set-lists and pretty much knew the emphasis. I had heard the majority of songs before so Thin Man, Lay Lady, and Summer Days were adequate but not special. Of the old songs Stuck Inside a Mobile was a treat as was It's Alright Ma, a song that entered my psyche early in life and the only Dylan song I can recite. Of the new songs Beyond Here Lies Nothing, Beyond the Horizon, and When the Deal Goes Down were firsts for me and balanced nicely with the "hold no prisoners" treatments of Stuck Inside and Mobile, It's Alright Ma, and a scorching Highway 61. Of the new songs When the Deal Goes Down and When You Get to Houston were ones to remember. I had heard Nettie Moore before and this version was better as Dylan singing was almost perfect. The encore of LARS, Jolene, and Watchtower were worth the price of admission. Jolene rocked.

The band sounded good from the start (message to all the complainers: I LIKE this band. They are loose and in the groove fitting for this new, blue Bob period) but Bob, although playing some nice riffs on his geetar, sounded like he'd left his voice at Red Rocks. This was absolutely the worst I've ever heard him sound, practically rapping/reading the lyric as his voice would break and crack each time he reached for a note. The people/fans in the seats around us looked absolutely baffled; one dude, mouth open, hand on chin, simply shook his head through the first three numbers. Working Man's Blues #2 provided a little spark of interest with some interesting lyric changes and two white owls circling the area on cue as if called from the ethers by the white hatted magic man on stage. It felt a bit like Harry Potter vibes! By then we were done w/Bob's froggy rasp (it hurt to listen to it) and headed out back for another margarita. We heard the rest of the show from near the stage although could not see a thing. I Believe In You was a lovely suprise with Bob sounding soft and tender, not attempting to strain those vocal chords any longer.

For the encore, Like a Rolling Stone was still hypnotic; full of drama in rhyme with Bob stretching—elongating words, and then shooting stanzas staccato style into the night. He closed with a riveting version of All Along the Watchtower. It was spellbinding with howling Hendrix-like riffs coming from somewhere out there beyond the walls of the old building.

Then, BOB SPEAKS! I think I have this word for word. Bob comes to the edge of the stage and announces, "I'd like to say hi to the president of our territorial fan club down here, Miss Linda Lou." Then he can't find her down front. Security has been sending people back to their assigned seats all night. Bob continues: "Looks like somebody hustled her away. I wish she'd come back!" (Big smile).
