Rollin’ and Tumbli’ got the crowd moving, it was electrifying. The 6th song was When the Deal Goes Down and, as I always get very emotional on this song, I had to sit down for a few moments. The song is a masterpiece, the music and the lyrics come together to form a perfectly polished gem; it encompasses the most sublime feelings of love, kindness, regret, serenity, warmth, tenderness. It’s a song that Dylan couldn’t had written when he was 25 years old, I think you have to be mature enough and to get your share of sorrow and pain in life, to finally produce this beautiful, beautiful work of art. I absolutely adore it. After it, what better song than ‘Till I Fell in Love With You? It was a wonderful way to gently take us out of the spell-like atmosphere of the previous song, with lyrics like “I’ve been hit too hard; I’ve seen too much/Nothing can heal me now but your touch”.

I liked having this one back again, different spot in the set and a different arrangement. I noticed he held the guitar in a different style. Pointed distinctly upwards, he held the body high as well. But it was the sound that really got me. A real Rock & Roll crunch. That sound seemed to stay the night. I'LL BE YOUR BABY...... Larry on pedal steel. A minor change in lyrics that was cool. MAGGIES FARM. I find that I don't enjoy the set lists of arena shows as much as the college gigs. The bigger shows lists don't seem as adventurous. NOT DARK YET being the only song from TOOM played all evening.

Warren Haynes came out and played a ripping guitar lead on the 8 Th. song of the set Watchtower. After 2 encores, Bob remained on stage while the rest of the band left, he casually held the mic in 1 hand and kicking his feet out in front of him, spoke to us in a soft but clear voice. Thanking us for being there, thanking Phil Lesh and his band and then as Bob's band returned introduced Phil to play "an old song Phil helped make famous", Friend of the Devil. As that song ended Warren Haynes and Jorma joined Phil and now with guitars all around Bob looked over to one side and then the other, and with a nod began to play Alabama Getaway, this song started out hot and kept getting hotter and hotter as the guitar jams went to a frenzy before exploding in a final crescendo. A spirited Not Fade Away ended what we all thought to be the fianl encore on this gala last night of the tour. But alas the house lights remained off and Bob returned with his band to play the well harmonized Blowin' in the Wind.
